The third verse - guess it was to religious for the secularists. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms.
What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms! What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms! Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms. 2 O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms! O how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms! 3 What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms! I have peace complete with my Lord so near, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms!
That was so wonderful and beautiful . I haven't heard this song sung so well since my Mom died in 2011 . She was an alto but had no problem singing soprano . Leaning she always sang alto though . Pray hard this year , lean on God so that if he moves you'll fall . He's going to do something massive this year , something never seen before . It's imminent and will be huge so that the world will see it . He's asking us to pray in earnest and get closer to Him , press into Him and quote His promises aloud daily , to claim them . Praise Him daily , as he freed the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery , He's about to free His children in America from tyrannical rule , no man will be able to take credit for what He's about to do , it's all God's work we will see . This is true , you'll know when the country goes dark , we are not to fear because His fury is not for us to bear . It will be as when the plague of the death of the first born son in Egypt but not one death in Goshen where the Hebrews lived . I hope someone will read this message and spread the word . God is already starting this move , we will all see it .
There's just something magical about Iris DeMent's voice. This song with it's spiritual overtones just seems to really fix the feelings conveyed in her singing. Iris is truly a blessing to all that open their heart's to the lyrics of her songs and let her deep feelings flow into them. I did not realize she participated in the soundtrack for the movie True Grit 2010 Soundtrack. I will have to watch the movie and wait with great anticipation for the part when she sings!
Nobody sings this song like Iris. I almost exclusively listen to classical music, but this is a masterpiece of the genre, which makes it a great monument to human aspirations.
These Hymns have meaning: Key: “Arm of the LORD” Spiritual Truth: “Jesus Christ on the Cross” Versus: “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Isaiah 53:1-12 KJV bible.com/bible/1/isa.53.1-12.KJV
10 years ago, I met a girl on a website called Diandian, she was ill in hospital and she played guitar every day. She was so optimistic and gave me hope at that time. I found this song from her home page. However, the website was shut down suddenly and I lost her.
You should question. God will give us what we want at the moment of death. If we choose God, we can inherit His Kingdom in Heaven, but if we do not choose God, then he won't force us to and there is only one other option. Go to a Catholic Church near you, talk to the Priest, and ask him what you should do. God Bless You.
My history teacher in the 8th grade would sing this song on a daily basis. I'm now 34-years old and this song is on my tongue every day and has been ever since then.
I love this version. Requested it at my dad’s funeral along with his lifelong requests - “Danny Boy” & “Going Home.” The church sang it in the whitest way possible 😂 it’s okay tho, I’ll play this version at my funeral ❤

That is pure good country Christian music, back when it was good and people could actually sing without autotune

Probably one of top 3 movies I’ve ever watched
Miss you David "Bad Eagle"
I am not a man of faith. But this song, and this song alone, makes me question

HER VOICE STIRS THE SPIRIT AND VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN DO THAT .
and the bile in one's gastro tract
My 3 great uncles had a band back in the day and when they sung this song it would bring goosebumps. they are singing in Heaven today.
This version of the song fits the sombre feel they were going for with this remake making more loyal to the book.
I can listen to this over and over.
Great singer and Great song
İts Song is Best Song in my life

Beautiful sentimental song. Her voice is different yes but I personally love this rendition. Powerful movie. Better than the original.
"Keep your seat trash". I love every line in this movie. "Texas brush popers". "A Methodist and son of a b!+#h!"
Best rendition of this song and it's not even close
❤❤❤
Beautiful song and a great movie. Wish life was still this simple.
Essa trilha me faz chorar 😢 Lembro do meu velho pai, cantando esse hino 😢😢😢😢😢
I think she has a beautiful voice 😢
